Have you heard of Baring Gifts?
Founded in 2005 by a dozen local women, we are a Marshfield non-profit organization dedicated to comforting neighbors in need. We believe that humor and compassion have a positive impact on those in crisis. We also believe that helping others in our community is a priority and a most rewarding task.
Each year in Marshfield, over 2,000 residents become hospitalized. Many of those hospitalizations involve acute health care crises. Baring Gifts seeks to lessen the burden brought on by these unforeseen and unfortunate events.
In just our first two years, we have provided clients with thousands of dollars worth of services and provisions. Baring Gifts seeks to satisfy needs that may not or cannot be met by traditional community groups, church organizations, family and friends.
These services include (though are not limited to): housekeeping, transportation, groceries, pet care, meals, lawn care and other “feel-good” services like flowers, hair care, and massages. You may have seen or heard about the Baring Gifts calendars. Our calendars were inspired by the popular movie “The Calendar Girls” and are currently our main source of fundraising. Calendars are available in several Marshfield retailers and online.
Our 2008 calendar is due in October!
Thanks to date go out to our generous Marshfield business community. Retailers have sold the vast majority of the calendars and tide charts. These business owners and operators have responded with compassion and enthusiasm. That’s the response Baring Gifts was hoping for from our business community. Because of our cooperative efforts, neighbors in need found a little brightness to their days.
